One-Time Release American Light Whiskey, Aged 20 Years, Label Art by Marvel Artist Rod Reis, 92 Proof
Latverian Cask is Orphan Barrel's collaboration with Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday, named for Latveria, the fictional kingdom ruled by Doctor Doom. It is also a first for the Orphan Barrel portfolio: a 20 year old American Light Whiskey, drawn from the final remaining barrels and, as the label puts it, "never to be blended again." Once these bottles are gone, the whiskey cannot be recreated.
The whiskey was distilled in Indiana from a predominantly corn mash bill to 189 proof, then matured for at least 20 years, mainly at the historic Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Kentucky with the balance in Indiana. It rested in used bourbon and rye barrels along with uncharred oak, which preserved the soft, sweet character of the light whiskey category while two decades added depth. Bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV), it is a gentle, honeyed sipper with almost no rye bite or char.
Marvel artist Rod Reis created the original label illustration: a stained-glass window in greens and golds framing the twin towers of Doom's castle against the Latverian mountains, filled with small references for fans to find. One in six bottles carries a holographic label treatment, so every case holds a surprise.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Latverian Cask?
It is a one-time release 20 year old American Light Whiskey from Orphan Barrel, created in collaboration with Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday and named for Latveria, Doctor Doom's kingdom.
What is light whiskey?
Under US rules, light whiskey is distilled above 160 proof and below 190 proof, then aged in used or uncharred new oak. The higher distillation proof and gentler barrels give a softer, sweeter spirit with far less char and rye spice than bourbon.
Where was it aged?
Most of the barrels matured at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Kentucky for at least 20 years, with the remainder aged in Indiana, where the whiskey was distilled.
What does it taste like?
Expect caramel and sweet vanilla on the nose, butterscotch, honey, orange peel and oak on the palate, and a warm finish of creamy vanilla and dried fruits.
Is the holographic label on every bottle?
No. One in six bottles carries a holographic label treatment. The whiskey inside is the same, and bottles are not sold by label type.
