Día de Muertos is one of Mexico's most cherished traditions, honoring those who came before through the belief that life does not end but transforms — that memory, love, and ritual allow those we hold dear to remain with us across generations. Trascender marks a new chapter in Clase Azul's Día de Muertos creations: following the completion of the brand's acclaimed Nuestros Recuerdos series (2021–2025), this release stands on its own as the beginning of a new approach, with each future Día de Muertos edition conceived as a singular creation.
Curated by Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco, the tequila inside is a captivating añejo blend. At its heart is an exceptional añejo aged for more than 30 months and finished in casks previously used to ferment wine destined for Champagne production, complemented by a second añejo aged over 30 months in American whiskey casks, whose bold character and toasted notes bring the blend to completion. The Champagne-destined wine casks carry the imprint of autolysis — the slow release of compounds from spent lees — imparting warm, buttery aromas of toasted walnut and freshly baked bread.

The Decanter
The decanter's glaze shifts from deep blue to vibrant magenta, a hue inspired by the mano de león, one of the traditional blossoms used to adorn ofrendas — the altars created to honor the departed. Around its base unfolds an intricate floral composition evoking the petal-strewn paths believed to guide returning souls during Día de Muertos, with subtle details from tiny skulls to delicate droplets honoring the duality of life and death. From the floral composition, 24-karat gold brushstrokes ascend to symbolize the soul's luminous journey toward the sun, with two marigolds representing a soul in transformation as it passes from the physical to the spiritual realm. Every element is hand-painted by Clase Azul's artisans using their signature feathered brushstrokes.

How is this different from the Nuestros Recuerdos series?
Trascender follows the completion of Clase Azul's annual Nuestros Recuerdos series (2021–2025) and marks the start of a new approach, with each future Día de Muertos release conceived as its own singular creation rather than part of an ongoing series.
What makes the aging process unique?
The tequila is a blend of two añejos aged over 30 months each: one finished in casks previously used to ferment wine destined for Champagne production, carrying the imprint of autolysis from spent lees, and the other finished in American whiskey casks for bold, toasted character.

No. Each decanter is individually hand-painted by Clase Azul's artisans using their signature feathered brushstrokes, so subtle variation in the artwork is normal and part of what makes each bottle unique.
